You don’t have to face this alone.
At Octavia, we know that taking the first step toward therapy can feel daunting, and we’re here to make it easier. In a safe, judgement-free space, you can explore your thoughts and emotions at your own pace. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, unsure where to start, or just curious about how counselling can help you feel better, we’re here to support you from the very start.
Let’s face it, therapy can be scary
Or, more so, the idea of it.
- Are you worried about being judged by people that you know or by a therapist themselves? Are you wondering whether you should just ‘go it alone’?
- Are you unsure about cost or accessibility options?
- Does the idea of emotional vulnerability feel overwhelming to you?
Here at Octavia Therapy, you can set your mind at ease. We’ve carved out a safe space for you, free of judgement, where we’ll work together and you can open up and explore at your own pace. Counselling is not about labelling or diagnosing – we meet you where you are at emotionally, helping you to uncover the root cause of issues and make sense of this within your personal context, and work with you to set achievable goals tailored to you. The focus is on what truly helps you to feel better, gain clarity, and take meaningful steps towards change.

We offer both in-person and online/telephone therapy sessions. The in-person face-to-face sessions are at a location that is easily accessed from Manchester, Bury, Whitefield and Bolton. You can also choose to have some sessions in-person and some online/telephone, making it highly accessible and convenient for your schedule.
We also provide special offers for booking several sessions in advance and concessions for students, over-65s, refugees and key workers.
If you’re looking for a BetterHelp alternative that has a personal, tailored and consistent approach, with one dedicated therapist, and that has both in-person and online counselling options, Octavia Therapy may be a better fit for you.
Is counselling right for me?
- When it comes to problems, there are no right or wrong ones for counselling.
- You might be struggling with thoughts that you’re ashamed of and feel ‘weird’ or ‘different’ to others.
- Maybe you feel like you’re stuck or lost but can’t quite put your finger on what the issue is yet.
- Or, you might have held something inside for such a long time that it feels almost unthinkable to speak about it now.
- Perhaps you feel that you should have ‘got over’ something from your past but there is something there preventing you from moving on.
- Maybe you feel guilty talking about others in your life.
- Or, maybe the same patterns or problems keep arising in your life - and you’ve no idea why.
- There are so many different reasons for coming to counselling and not one of them is worth more or less than others.
- Whatever you’re facing, you don’t have to do it alone - let’s take the first step together toward a brighter, more fulfilling life.

These are just some of the many benefits you can gain from therapy. Each journey is unique and whether you’re seeking clarity, healing or personal growth, therapy provides a supportive space to create meaningful change in your life.
Counselling with Octavia Therapy provides certain benefits to you as a client. Compared with online platforms such as BetterHelp, you get consistency with one therapist versus a potentially rotating cast of counsellors, as well as personalised and in-depth care versus the more generalised approach that online platforms often offer.
You also get flexibility over session length, format and frequency. Rather than having to adapt to pre-set session structures and pay a high ongoing rate per week, with Octavia Therapy you can choose to increase your sessions to a couple a week or reduce these to once a month, and have the flexibility to change this frequency during the process, according to your needs. If you need to change the day or time of your sessions, this can be adjusted to suit you. If you need a longer session than usual, this can also be accommodated. I provide in-person face-to-face counselling at a location easily accessed from Manchester, Bury, Prestwich, Radcliffe, Whitefield, Bolton, as well as online video sessions and telephone sessions.
With Octavia Therapy, there are also special offers when paying for sessions in blocks and there are concessionary price options, as opposed to high, fixed and ongoing weekly charges applied to individuals across the board.
